Here are three top finishers at the bonsai exhibit Dale-san and I travelled to see in Grand Rapids last month:

I was especially proud of the third place finisher, the Kurume azalea, as I checked and it was a variety my grandfather, Kosaku Sawada, developed many years ago.
I think to contemplate on the beauty and serenity of any of these works of art that were exhibited would be very worthwhile.

    As Sensei said, choosing a Zen related art, cha-no-yu (tea ceremony), calligraphy, ikebana (flower arranging), or others was a budo essential, as it fostered the awareness of beauty in this life.
