Morning Keiko

In an attempt to make morning keiko accessible to more students, I suggest we move the tue/thurs morning keiko to a different time. Please let me know if an 11-12 slot (or other suggestions) would benefit anyone. Thanks, Danny

  1. In my opinion, I don't think that having a class in the middle of the morning on a weekday is a good idea because of people's work schedules. Not to mention that the current time slot is too late for those who are coming off their night shift. The morning class should be held either earlier in the morning (e.g. 9-10 AM like it originally used to be) or later in the morning toward lunchtime.

If you're going to have a lunchtime keiko, assuming that there is enough interest, the span of the class can be about 1.5-2 hours long (e.g. 11 AM - 12:30 PM) so that it can be accessible to anyone who wants to take a break from work. Furthermore, I would probably have the format of the class be an informal, open-mat style (perhaps no hakama required?) so that individuals can feel free to enter or leave the mat in the middle of keiko when they arrive late to class from work or when they have to return to work on time. Just a thought. Gassho.

  2. I think what Muketsu said is good - It would be nice to have the flexibility to drop-in and take part in training even. Having a more informal setting would reduce some of the anxiety of being on time or leaving early. Although I do see the potential of my lunch break starting earlier and ending later than "usual" I can deal with those issues on my end. The most important thing is that a lunch time keiko would offer an option of attending class where most other time slots do not.
